Tables covered in “grape leather” for the opening of Michelin-starred chef Philippe Mille’s new restaurant.

Philippe Mille has said goodbye to tablecloths for his restaurant L’Arbane in Reims! He called on our workshop to make all his tables. We made these double trays by superimposing a board covered in imitation leather with a solid wood bottom board.
The material, made from grape fibres, is a reference to the vines of the Reims region.

Anatomy of the project

A material with a highly symbolic composition and colour

We usually offer our customers a made-to-measure sourcing service. This allows them to choose the material best suited to their project. Here, the leatherette is made from grape residue. The choice of this pinkish-grey material is in keeping with the world and values of the Arbane restaurant. The restaurant celebrates the Champagne region and the famous grape variety from which it takes its name.

Practicality is an essential criterion.

We chose this material for its aesthetic and practical qualities. A fine grain and a thin protective film cover its surface. This coating makes it easy to clean.

Beforehand, the Arbane team carried out tests on samples to ensure that the material was stain-resistant.

Made-to-measure sheathing

For this project, we produced all the tables in different formats: round, oval and half-egg. Thanks to our sheathing expertise, the material perfectly matches the curves of the tops. In a nod to the craftsmanship of leatherwork, the piping appears discreetly between the two tops.

Delivery and assembly by our workshop

The trays required expert and delicate handling. That’s why we took care of delivery and assembly on site, at the Arbane restaurant.
